Sports Results

U14 Boys Hockey

The U14 boys played an excellent game of hockey against RHS on Tuesday, ending the game with a 2-1 defeat. Player of the match: Alex Connor

U12 and U13 Boys Hockey

On the 20 March the U12 and U13 boys hockey teams played RHS. The U12 boys drew 1-1 and the U13 won 6-0

U16 and U18 Football

The boys have played two matches against Polam earlier this week, with some fantastic results. The U16 team winning 6-0 and the U18 team winning 3-0. Players of the match: Edward Lorenz and Mark Horton who both scored hat-tricks!

U14 Girls Hockey

On Monday night the U14 girls played Richmond U15 . The team, which was made up of Year 7, 8 and 9, played a fantastic match, gaining a lot of experience against a team comprised mainly of Year 10 girls.

Into English & Journalism Information Evening

March 18, 2014

On Tuesday 1 April, 6pm to  8.30pm, Teesside High School will be holding an ‘Into English and Journalism’ information evening.

On the night there will be thought provoking seminars delivered by:

  • An admissions tutor and lecturer at Teesside University
  • A current English student studying at Teesside University
  • A professional journalist from the Evening Gazette
  • A published author, poet and teacher
They will provide invaluable details and tips about application and selection processes for careers and degrees in English and Journalism.
Space is strictly limited so booking is essential. Please contact Teesside High School to confirm your attendance by Friday 21 March.

Students travel to Huddersfield University

On Tuesday 18 February, a group of Year 12 English Language students travelled to Huddersfield University. They had a tour of the campus and facilities and then spent time in workshops which were tailored towards the English Language A level course.

Huddersfield University became the  Times Higher Education University of the Year in November 2013.

Careers Convention 2014

On 6 February Teesside High School held its annual Careers Convention. The event is designed to enable pupils from Years 9 to 12 to explore a range of university courses as well as a myriad of different career options. Talking directly to recent graduates and Professionals ranging from Cardio-Vascular and Veterinary Surgeons to Lawyers and Accountants gave students an invaluable insight into the qualifications and experience required to achieve their chosen careers.

Many local and national businesses attended including Lister Architects, Siemens PLC, Burgess Hyder Dental Group, ABB Engineering Services, Bousfield Gaskin, Caterpillar, Integrity Search, James Cook University Hospital, Stanhope Park Vets and South Tees NHS. There were also representatives from the Police Force, British Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force.

Delegates from universities from across the country, including Teesside, Durham, Newcastle, Northumbria, Sunderland, York, Leeds, Bradford and York St John also joined the event.

Kristin Atkinson of Integrity Search said ‘We were delighted to be given the opportunity to exhibit and discuss the fantastic career opportunities there are within the ever growing digital marketing and e-commerce sector, from web design and development to creative journalism with the pupils and parents of Teesside High’

Head teacher Deborah Duncan said ‘The evening was a real success and it was great to see our pupils thinking about their futures and considering the exciting career prospects they have in store’.

We are Celebrating an Excellent Inspection Report!

Teesside High School is celebrating after receiving high praise in a report just released by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI).

The independent school, for boys and girls from 3 to 18, was rated as “excellent” in ten out of the 12 areas assessed. In the Early Years Foundation Stage, every one of its four categories was judged as “excellent”.

The report said: “The school successfully achieves its aims. The pupils’ achievements are well supported by their excellent attitudes to learning, by the excellent curricular and extra-curricular provision and by the good teaching they receive, characterised by a high level of support for each pupil.” (more…)

‘Into Music’ Evening, Wednesday 13 November

If you would like to know what fantastic opportunities there are for music at Teesside High School, please come along to our ‘Into Music’ evening on Wednesday 13 November, starting at 6pm.

You will be given the opportunity to talk to our team of highly dedicated visiting music teachers about extra-curricular music provision, including one to one instrumental/vocal tuition and group activities that are on offer at lunchtimes and after school.  Your child may even get the opportunity to have a go on that instrument!

This will be followed by a wonderful Musicians and Scholar’s Recital at 7pm, given by some of our finest musicians to demonstrate what is really possible!

Refreshments will be available from 6pm to 7pm.

Khunsha Cheema

A Level Results Day: Head Girl Secures Kings College Triumph

August 15, 2013

Teesside High School Sixth Former Khunsha Cheema (pictured) was celebrating this morning. Khunsha, the School’s Head Girl last year, has secured her place at Kings College London to study Medicine, thanks to 3 A*s and one A Grade at A Level.

Khunsha, from Ingleby Barwick, joined Teesside High School when she was just six years old and has been an outstanding student throughout her School career. She became Head Girl in 2012, held an academic scholarship and won awards for academic achievement, Latin and Speech and Drama. She has achieved her A Level A* Grades in Biology, History and English Literature and her A Grade in Chemistry.  (more…)
