What a lovely evening of music we enjoyed!

Mr Laverick writes:

“Looking back at the High School Spring Concert fills me with a sense of pride, with outstanding talent on show.

As usual there was a rich and diverse range of musical items, showing the performers’ skills to their full potential:

• Vibrant vocals from Bethany Bryan (Troublemaker), Matthew Twohig (Hallelujah), Annabel Steele (Imagine), Samah Khan and Cecilia Neave (Please Don’t Say You Love Me) were slick and self assured;
• Professional piano solos from Kate Laurence (Chopin Nocturne in C# minor), Alexander Bell (For Lydia) and Heather Steele (Skryabin Prelude in Db) were sharp and stylish;
• Great guitar performances from Michael and Martin Diamond and Jack Scott;
• Stomping swing band (Don’t Get Around Much Anymore), wonderful woodwind choir, incredible Improvisers, champion choir (I Dreamed a Dream), uplifting orchestra (Beethoven Allegretto) and fantastic flutes (Theme from The Pink Panther).

Many thanks to all who performed and to those behind the scenes, who helped make the evening such a success.  The superlatives have almost run out, but the talent most certainly has not.”

Teesside High School in Eaglescliffe has unveiled the plans for its brand new Sixth Form building today (7 March). The bespoke, two storey building will be located on the school site with the design of a scale to meet the growing demand for Sixth Form places from across the Tees Valley and beyond.

The School received confirmation of the funding for the Sixth Form in January and work has moved on apace since then. (more…)

Twenty students from Years 10 to 13 accompanied Mrs Casey, Miss Stephens, Mr Jones and Mr Topham on an exciting whirlwind trip of New York City.

After an overnight stay at Heathrow and a long journey, they arrived at their hotel on 36th Street ready to go straight up to the top of the Empire State Building at dusk.  It was amazing to see the city turn from day to night and a wonderful way to start the visit. This was followed by a meal at the famous Bubba Gump’s in Times Square. (more…)

We are delighted to be holding our Music (Year 7 and Year 12) and Sport (Year 12) Scholarship Assessment Day on Friday 8 March. As well as receiving a financial award, a Scholarship is highly prestigious for a student so if your son or daughter excels in music or sport, please call for an application pack.  Closing date for applications is Friday 1 March.

We are aware of the ever increasing numbers of students who are keen to pursue a career in Engineering. This is an incredibly broad subject area and many students are confused by the different fields within it. This confusion can ultimately discourage students from pursuing a career in this exciting and dynamic profession. (more…)

Teesside High School in Eaglescliffe has received funding approval for a brand new Sixth Form building. To be located on the school site, the two storey building will be a bespoke design and of a scale to meet the growing demand for Sixth Form places from across the Tees Valley and beyond.

Having received notice of confirmed funding, the school’s Finance Committee has formally recommended to its full Board that they approve the project, when it meets later this month. (more…)

The fashion design work of Teesside High School students has been specially selected to form part of a prestigious exhibition at the Royal Ballet, Covent Garden in October.

The exhibition has been organised as part of the 50^th anniversary celebrations of The Society of Headmasters & Headmistresses of Independent Schools (SHMIS), aiming to show excellence, quality and diversity in fashion design.

Teesside High School is the only school in the north east exhibiting fashion designs and just nine schools have been selected nationwide. The work is from GCSE, AS and A Level Product Design Textiles students.

Sue Jackson, Head of Design and Technology at Teesside High School, said: “We are honoured to be the only school in the north east chosen to exhibit our work. This is a wonderful opportunity to show the high quality garment designs of our students within the superb environment of The Royal Ballet.”
