Key Stage Two (7-11yrs)
We offer our pupils an incredibly broad and inventive curriculum. We aim for excellence in all of our teaching but we also offer our children the tools with which they can explire the environment surrounding them.
We go out on a wide range of educational visits providing the children the real, first hand experience of their world. Trips have included visits to Alnwick Castle, the Coal Mine in Doncaster, Holy Island, Paris, the Isle of Arran, Robin Hood's Bay, The Robin Wood Outward Bound Centre, Langdon Beck, theatre visits to Newcastle and Darlington and Fountains Abbey. Our excursions are memorable, fun, safe, exciting, never-to-be-forgotten experiences providing first-hand learning and irreplaceable memories.
The youngest children in the Prep School are taught by their own Form Teacher although later on, we gradually introduce specialist teachers in a variety of disciplines. Our pupils experience a timetabled day from the age of seven, but we also allow our staff to teach to their passions, passing on their enthusiasm and knowledge.
Modern languages are introduced in the Pre-Prep, and our pre-school pupils experience interesting history and geography lessons weekly.
Art and design are taught in a half term rotation, and we have specialist trained games and PE staff who involve all pupils in competitive sport.
Pupils are regularly assessed and their progress monitored and discussed with parents on an ongoing basis. Any child who requires special assistance is quickly identified and supported.
We aim to let your children fly!
