Trevor Watson

Governor

Born locally and currently living in North Yorkshire, I have spent the majority of my life living and working in the Teesside area.

My professional life was centred in the property and financial services industries, from my own self-started local firms to PLC’s after buy out, latterly at senior board level before retirement. Having said that I don’t know how I ever had time to work with the many other roles in my life!

I am a Deputy Lieutenant for North Yorkshire and my duties include deputising for the Lord Lieutenant and representing the Monarch in the county, working in many areas of business, the armed forces, and with charitable and voluntary organisations.  The lieutenancy also arranges royal visits and escorts royal visitors as well as presenting medals, honours and award on behalf of HM The Queen.

My current role as a Director of the large social enterprise Five Lamps Organisation and Chairman of its trading company subsidiary, Conduit Ltd., is particularly rewarding. As this third sector business grows, we are realising our aims of raising aspirations, removing barriers and transforming lives in some of the most disadvantaged communities in the country.

I spent forty years as a magistrate within Guisborough and Teesside Courts having been a Bench Chairman on three separate occasions for a total of ten years. As a magistrate, I held many positions within the magistracy including membership of the County Police Authority.

I am married and have two grown up children and four grandchildren, one of whom attends Teesside High School.

Part of my responsibilities as a Governor are centred on the Able, Gifted and Talented group and I am always pleased to apply my background and experience to this facet of our wonderful School.
