Key Stage Two (7-11yrs)

We offer our pupils a wonderfully broad and stimulating curriculum. We aim for excellence in all of our teaching and we offer our children the tools with which they can explore the environment surrounding them.

Children participate in a wide range of educational visits providing them with real, first-hand experience of the world. Trips have included visits to Alnwick Castle, Holy Island, Paris, Cadbury’s World, York, Durham, Robin Hood’s Bay, The Robin Wood Outward Bound Centre, Langdon Beck, theatre visits to Newcastle and Darlington and Fountains Abbey. Our school excursions are always memorable, fun, safe, exciting, and never-to-be-forgotten experiences.

The youngest children in the Prep School are taught by their own dedicated Form Teacher although later on, we gradually introduce more specialist teachers in a variety of disciplines. The Form Tutors oversee pupils’ pastoral and academic development. Our pupils experience a timetabled day from the age of seven, but we also allow our staff to teach to their passions, passing on their enthusiasm and knowledge.

Modern languages are introduced in the Pre-Prep and specialist PE staff aim to involve pupils in competitive sport.

Pupils are regularly assessed and their progress is monitored and discussed with parents on an ongoing basis. Any child who requires special assistance is quickly identified and supported.

We aim to deliver the best to, and get the best from, each and every child.
