Senior School Curriculum

At Teesside High we believe in breadth and depth. We have devised a programme of study which encompasses the National Curriculum and extends it.

For the first three years, pupils are encouraged to experience a diverse range of disciplines including: English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, French, German, Latin, Classical Studies, RE, History, Geography, Design Technology, Food and Nutrition, Information Technology, Art and Music, PE and Games. In addition, citizenship issues are addressed through a personal and social education (PSE) programme.

For the GCSE years (Years 10 and 11) the boys and girls are given a flexible range of choices. There is ample advice given, both from our own careers team and external advisers. In most instances, children will study ten subjects to GCSE, including the National Curriculum compulsory core (ie Maths, English and the Sciences); we are flexible enough to realise that if a pupil has a special talent (eg show jumping or ballet) and they need to devote significant time for this we can arrange a slightly reduced timetable. Everyone is an individual. All of the subjects already taught for the first three years are available for GCSE. Again the programme is enriched with Games, PE and PSE.

Teesside High is the region's leading Diamond School
