Sixth Form Curriculum

The years spent in the Sixth Form are two of the most important in any pupil’s life. Careful choice of subjects helps each student to achieve their potential and progress towards a fulfilling career and a happy and successful life.

In Lower Sixth, pupils are encouraged to take AS exams in four academic subjects and in General Studies. Careful guidance will be given to help them select subjects which are appropriate to their particular interests and abilities but will also provide them with access to Higher Education courses which suit their ambitions and aspirations. A wide choice of subjects are available.

In Upper Sixth, most students concentrate on a core of three academic subjects to complete the A2 modules giving them A level qualifications. In addition once again pupils will take the General Studies A level which gives them additional UCAS points and is much valued by universities as evidence of broad ability. A minority of students complete A levels in four or even five subjects, although for many this would be a very demanding load.

Almost all pupils proceed to university with a good proportion taking up places at Oxford or Cambridge.
