Life before Teesside High School

Before teaching at Teesside High I completed an Art foundation course at Carlisle College of Art and Design and a degree in Industrial Design Marketing at Teesside University. After completing a PGCE at Sunderland University, I taught at Sedgefield Community College for 10 years. I taught across the spectrum of technology subject and also in Art, eventually becoming Head of Art. I moved to Teesside High in 2004.

What do you enjoy most about your subject?

I love teaching students that art is about so much more than just painting and drawing. art is about exploring the variety of art forms and playing to the strengths of each individual.

What do you enjoy most about Teesside High School?

The best thing about Teesside High is that everyone knows and supports each other; it’s a real family.

What is your favourite lesson?

I really enjoy teaching all my lessons as each year group brings with it its own challenges and adventures but at Key stage 4 students get to explore who they are as an artist and that is very exciting.

What do others say about you?

I hope that students how much I care that they get the best results possible and see me as approachable.
