THS pupil Cheri, aged 11, took part in the HSBC Road to Wimbledon National Tennis 14 & Under challenge this summer. It is the UK’s largest junior grass court tournament and forms part of HSBC’s investment in the stars of the future.
Over 20,000 take part with the winners from each local club going through to the county final. 48 girls in total went through to the National finals played on the grass courts at Wimbledon.
Cheri won all her qualifying matches in the singles, getting through to the main draw and winning her next match to advance to the final 8.

In the doubles Cheri, partnered with her friend Leah. Both girls were the youngest players there, but managed to fight their way to the finals. They were then crowned U14 Wimbledon Doubles Champions!
Cheri and Leah were presented with a trophy by Tim Henman, have received money toward their coaching and a Tim Henman masterclass, attended a players’ party and were treated like professional tennis players all week at Wimbledon!
A huge congratulations to Cheri!
