Head’s blog – Teesside High School

Friday 24 May 2019 | By Samantha Hockney

It is hard to believe we have just five weeks of the academic year remaining.

In our staff training this week, we were discussing trips out of school. It is staggering to think that, so far in 2018-19, we have led no less than 70 trips out of school for our children. Some abroad, some residential, some fantastic day trips – the latest of which you can read more about in our fortnightly newsletter below. We recognise the significant importance of providing an educational experience beyond the normal boundaries of the classroom. This weekend, our Senior children will be exploring Paris as part of their Modern Foreign Languages studies, and we hope they have a brilliant time experiencing all the French capital has to offer.

In a similar vein, I hope you enjoyed following what our children got up to as part of national Outdoor Classroom Day this week. Our staff were super creative in planning their lessons to spark students’ curiosity and, above all, appreciation and respect for the great outdoors. We are so lucky to have such wonderful grounds to enjoy, which is made even easier with the beautiful weather we are having!

I hope it continues into the half term and that you have a wonderful break with your family.

Mrs K Mackenzie, Head
