Joining Teesside High School in Year 7 in September 2020Tuesday 27 August 2019 | By Samantha Hockney
Are you considering Teesside High School as the next step in your son or daughter’s education?
As we approach the start of the new academic year, we hope the below information will be useful to those students and families looking to join Teesside High School in Year 7 in September 2020.
Teesside High School Open Day and Coffee Morning
Saturday 28 September, 9.30am-12.30pm
Our first Open Day of the academic year is teamed with our community Coffee Morning in support of Macmillan Cancer Support. This event is the perfect opportunity to allow your son/daughter to explore the Senior School and meet future teachers and support staff. You will be shown around our beautiful grounds and talked through the many opportunities available at Teesside High School by a student guide, who will give you an honest account of being part of the THS community. This really is an informal and relaxed event – and a great start ahead of your son/daughter’s possible transition. Register here.
Year 7 Open Evening
Tuesday 8 October, 6.00pm-7.30pm
Our Year 7 Open Evening will specifically cover the transition to the Senior School and introduce you to key members of staff, such as our Pastoral Support Officer and Senior Leaders responsible for curriculum and pastoral care. Students are welcome to attend, but it is not compulsory.
Taster Days – bookings now being taken now for 2020/21 entry
The autumn term is a great time to experience a day at Teesside High School and allow your child to meet future classmates. A successful taster day must be completed prior to an offer being made, which most parents appreciate prior to the secondary schools admissions deadline at the end of October.
Year 7 Transition Day
Thursday 9 January 2020, 8.30am-4.00pm
Our first transition day of the academic year sees the incoming Year 7 cohort experience a full day in the Senior School for the first time. Our prospective students are invited to try exciting experiments in Science, learn a new language, play Sport in our magnificent grounds and try their hand at an interesting co-curricular activity. Attendance at the Transition Day is compulsory for all Year 7 students interested in applying for an Academic Scholarship at Teesside High School.
Scholarship Assessment Day
Tuesday 4 February 2020
Successful scholarship applicants will spend a further day in school as they complete their required tests, interviews or auditions for our Academic, Music and Sport Scholarships.
Year 7 Transition Day
Tuesday 16 June 2020, 8.30am-4.00pm
Our final transition day really sees our Year 7 group begin to take shape. Friendships have been formed, links with teachers made, and our students once again navigate their way around our Senior School building, following an action-packed timetable and excellent co-curricular programme.
We appreciate the transition to Senior School can be seen as a big step. In small classes and through our warm, friendly approach, we aim to get to know each and every student and make their personal journey to Teesside High a seamless and successful one.
If you haven’t already, please do complete an online registration form for your child.
We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events.
