Three aspiring medics at Teesside High School have successfully secured their places to read Medicine at university after achieving a collective 6 A* and 3 A grades in their A-level examinations.
Libby, Phoebe and Flora will each study Medicine at renowned Russell Group institutions from September, with Libby and Flora at Newcastle University and Phoebe at the University of Sheffield.
Libby, from Hartlepool, achieved A*A*A* in her Biology, Chemistry and History A-levels. She said: “I am thrilled to have secured my place to study something I have wanted to do from a very young age. The support that I have received from THS Sixth Form staff has been invaluable and really prepared me for the challenge that lies ahead.”
Phoebe, from Eaglescliffe, hopes to be a psychiatrist in the future. She secured A*A*A grades in Biology, Chemistry and English Literature, adding: “I have had to work the hardest I have ever worked, and Teesside High School has allowed me to do that – to be totally focused. I am really looking forward to university. I feel like my ambition is becoming a reality.”
Flora, also from Hartlepool, achieved A*AA in her Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics exams. She said: “It has always been my dream to study medicine and I am thrilled to continue my journey at Newcastle University. I could not be more grateful for everything Teesside High School has given me.”
Jane Bird, Head of Sixth Form at Teesside High School, said: “High grades are exceptionally important when looking for that next step in Medicine, but the girls have also reaped the rewards of our successful Pre-Med enrichment, which provides the advice and guidance needed to successfully progress in a challenging and competitive medicine admissions process.
“Libby, Phoebe and Flora have worked exceptionally hard throughout their time at Teesside High School and contributed a great deal to our close-knit student community. We wish them the very best of luck in the future.”
