U12 Rugby: Match ReportTuesday 27 September 2016 | By Samantha Hockney
Teesside High School’s U12 rugby team got the season off to a very promising start when they took part in a four school tournament hosted by Yarm School last Monday.
The boys played three matches against a Yarm B team, Red House School and Polam Hall Free School. Five of the boys in this U12 team were from Year 6, and all played exceptionally well. The team opened with a win over Yarm B team before losing a close match to Red House. The boys finished the tournament with an excellent victory over Polam. Euan Wilson was the leading try scorer for Teesside and his strong running proved difficult for the opposition to deal with. George Townsley showed great skill at scrum half and together with George Knaggs, Matty Holmes and Max Leonard the boys moved the ball well.
Defensively there was some brave tackling, none more so than Finn Noott who made several try saving tackles. He was well supported by Dominic Goodchild who was prominent in all games. With Charlie Atkinson, Dominic Carey and George Danson all playing their part, this was a most encouraging start to the season.
