Teesside High School’s U13 boys were crowned Year 7/8 Cleveland and Durham County Champions after a competitive tournament at Billingham Synthonia Cricket Club last week.
Twelve schools were invited to compete in the Finals, with the top two in each of the three groups then playing a semi-final and final.
The THS boys proved too strong for St. Leonard’s of Durham and St. Robert School of Durham, and also defeated the Hurworth School team from Darlington in the group games.
First place in group three took THS into a semi-final against St. John’s and a place in the final beckoned as our boys proved too strong with another excellent victory.
Easington were the opposition in the final after their impressive form in the group stages. THS batted first, scoring 89, and the team’s excellent bowling backed up by equally impressive fielding had Easington all out for 37. THS secured the victory by 52 runs and were named County Champions!
In this particular format, all of the boys had to contribute to the team’s performance. An excellent accolade for Ben, Harry, Yash, Rhys, Calum, George K, George T, Austin and Craig.
