Life before Teesside High School

Before joining the Teesside High School family, I spent the past fourteen years working in two mainstream schools in the North East. I teach English, Drama and Media Studies.

What do you enjoy most about your subject?

I love teaching poetry and Shakespeare as students don’t usually expect to enjoy these. It is wonderful when students become passionate and confident in these topics and you know you have inspired them. Also, in teaching, every day is different!

What do you enjoy most about Teesside High School?

Having spent my teaching career in mainstream schools, it was refreshing to join a school which allows teachers to have small class sizes to ensure effective teaching and learning. We really do know our students’ strengths and weaknesses and are able to support them. It is a family and community orientated school which is exceptionally welcoming. The students are absolutely delightful and I really feel at home here.

What is your favourite lesson?

I adore autumn and the weeks leading up to Christmas as it is always a happy buoyant time in school.

What do others say about you?

I hope they will say that I am a good teacher!
