Sarah Goodman

Teacher

Life before Teesside High School

Prior to joining the staff at THS, I have taught in many and varied contexts: from inner city schools in Birmingham, to a rural school in Weardale, Further Education on the Gower peninsular, and in Dudley, where I wrote and managed an extremely well-respected Access to Science course. Additionally, I have experience in the private, boarding sector and teaching supply. Within these contexts, I have explored my passion for SEND provision in Science alongside delivering A-level Physics to high achievers.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Teaching…there is no better high than seeing my pupils have a ‘lightbulb’ moment, where they truly understand something for the first time. After thirty years in the profession, it still giver me shivers.

What do you enjoy most about Teesside High School?

It is like a big, happy family! …and how all pupils really want to learn.

What is your favourite time of the year?

I love both the seasons of ‘change’: autumn for the beautiful colours and textures, spring for the bringing of new life after the winter sleep.

What do others say about you?

That I’m quirky, passionate and very honest – and not a typical Physicist!
