How long have you been at Teesside High School?
I joined Teesside High School in September 2019, at the start of Year 12.
What has been the highlight of your time at Teesside High School?
Having the added privileges of being a Sixth Form student is great. I’ve also thoroughly enjoyed meeting new friends, and taking full advantage of our incredible grounds.
Which subjects are you studying?
I’m studying Business, English Literature and Psychology. I’m also looking forward to starting my EPQ relatively soon.
What are your aspirations beyond Teesside High School?
For around 3 years now I have been strongly focused on commencing my career as a Journalist, particularly in the Broadcast sector. I’m working hard to ensure I achieve the grades to get into Newcastle University/University of Leeds to study Journalism, or Northumbria University to study Journalism and English Literature.
What are your hobbies and interests?
I love playing Netball and Hockey, and have only recently stopped playing rugby for my team, Sandal, in Wakefield. Finding new music to listen to is also of a great interest to me.
Throughout my education, Drama and Music have always been of great interest to me, and at GCSE, I worked hard to achieve a grade 8 in Drama. Throughout these two years, it was my firm favourite subject. As I joined Teesside High, I was fortunate to be assigned as Drama Prefect in Year 12, and shortly after auditions, I was cast at Patty Di Marco in the school production of School of Rock – this was a great privilege. In my previous school, I partook in the production of Beauty and the Beast, and in the year before, Julius Caesar.
What are you going to bring to your role?
I’m extremely keen to help encourage the pupils of Teesside High to view Performing Arts as a way to express themselves, not just as characters, but as their own individuals, too. Drama especially has been a subject that has really brought me out of my shell, and has given me great confidence that will be of use for the rest of my life. I would also love to help show pupils how fortunate we are to have such extensive facilities at our school, and advocate a greater focus on their benefits.
