Millie Holmes

Performing Arts Captain

How long have you been at Teesside High School?
I joined Teesside High School in September 2015, at the start of Year 7.

What has been the highlight of your time at Teesside High School?
Having the privileges of being a Sixth Form student is great. I have also thoroughly enjoyed spending time in the amazing grounds and learning in the incredible Music and Drama department.

Which subjects are you studying?
I am studying Music (BTEC), Psychology and Sports Studies.

What are your hobbies and interests?
I love playing netball, hockey and singing. Music is a big part of my life. I love finding new music to listen to and finding new music to sing to.  Over the past six years I have been working my way up the grades in popular music. I started on Grade 5 in Year 8; I have achieved distinction in every grade so far and now I am working towards my Diploma.

What are you going to bring to your role?
I’m extremely proud to be a part of the Music and Drama department. As I am already a subject prefect in Music, I am very keen to encourage pupils to view performing arts as a way to help express themselves. Music especially has been the subject to help me express myself and has really brought me out of my shell. It has given me great confidence to be myself and that will be something I take forward and use for the rest of my life.
