Head’s blog – March

Friday 08 March 2024 | By Megan Connor

A selection of our pupils travelled to Nuremberg for an exciting exchange trip during the half term break. I loved seeing the daily updates on our social media channels and watching our students create multi-lingual friendships. This trip definitely served as a valuable learning experience for all and we hope to continue our relationship with our partner school in the future.

The return to school saw us celebrating World Book Day with both a Book Fair and fancy dress day in Prep, and a House competition during assembly and a book swap in the Senior School. It is great to see all of our students so engaged in their reading.

Last week saw our older pupils presenting their bid for Head Boy and Head Girl at the Senior School Hustings. This was then followed by a pupil and staff vote and an interview with myself and Mr Hannah, Head of Sixth Form. All candidates presented themselves well, had some interesting ideas for improving the pupil experience at THS and I look forward to working with the team next year and seeing some of those ideas develop further.

It has been lovely to see some blue skies this week which has made me excited for the summer term ahead. 2024 is a huge year for our Former Students’ Association as they mark 125 years since their inception in 1899. We look forward to celebrating the school’s rich history and bright future with the FSA in a number of fantastic events in June, including our own Summer Fair!

With live music, entertainment, food and drink, inflatables, funfair stalls and hopefully lots of sunshine, we hope you can come along on Saturday 15 June and help us make 2024 a year to remember for our wonderful school family. This event is free and open to everyone in our local community so please do bring along your friends and family.
