Head’s blog – May

Friday 26 May 2023 | By Megan Connor

Firstly, I would like to say a huge well done to all of our students who have spent the past couple of weeks completing their GCSE, AS and A-level examinations. It’s been wonderful to catch up with students as they come out of the Main Hall, relieved, happy, and confident that their hard work has paid off.

Whilst we’re only half way through a busy examination timetable, you are now on the homestretch, so keep up the hard work.

Since our last edition, Year 5 and 6 pupils visited Cornwall for a very exciting trip to the Eden Project. After a super long bus ride, the trip enabled them to explore massive covered Biomes, trek through the world’s largest indoor rainforest and enjoy extensive outdoor gardens and impressive contemporary artworks. We received some lovely photographs from the trip (you can see these on the school’s Facebook page) and all of the children had a truly memorable experience. Huge thanks to the staff who gave up their time to take the children along.

Elsewhere in the school, we are looking forward to some fantastic trips. Our Senior and Sixth Form students are heading to Paris at the end of June for a special Music tour. They will be able to see the sights and also perform at the Jardin de Luxembourg.

Students are also visiting Wimbledon, our now annual trip which always offers a wonderful live sporting experience for our pupils.

On the topic of sport, well done to all of our Senior School students who attended the Stockton Athletics Championships on Wednesday. I have heard how amazingly you all performed and I am very pleased with the results; good luck in the next round!

As we approach the final five weeks of the academic year, we have lots of events planned for the THS community. I look forward to seeing you at our forthcoming Sports Days, Creative Arts Evening and Staff vs Parents cricket match. Do not forget your picnic!

Wishing you all a restful and relaxing half term break.
