Kyla Whittaker

Learning Support Assistant

Life before Teesside High School

I did an apprenticeship in Supporting Teaching and Learning through Stockton Riverside College and worked at a school in Norton for almost three years. After I qualified as a Teaching Assistant, I worked at a special needs school in Billingham.

What do you enjoy most about your subject?

I love working the children and helping them reach their full potential. It is a very rewarding job and every day is different.

What do you enjoy most about Teesside High School?

I felt so welcomed here by both the staff and the children. There is a friendly atmosphere here at Teesside High School and it is like one big family which I happy to be a part of. I really love the Forest School and watching the children enjoy the outdoors environment is such a pleasure to see.

What is your favourite time of the year?

I love the winter because of the cold weather and also preparing for the school Nativity play gets me excited for Christmas!

What do others say about you?

I think others would say that I am a kind and caring person who always has a smile on my face.
