Robert Tindle

Chair of Governors

After graduating with a degree in Geography, I joined one of the ‘big firms’ and trained as a Chartered Accountant in their Newcastle office. I am still working in practice as a partner in Tindle’s LLP, a firm which not only provides traditional compliance services, but also specialises in providing business advice to a range of entrepreneurial clients.

In the past I have been active in a number of organisations including the Rotary Club. Currently I am involved with my professional body both locally (as a member of the Teesside Society, and as Chairman of both the CU Peat Prize Fund and the Tees Valley General Practitioner Group) and nationally, where I was a member of the ICAEW’s Audit Registration Committee for six years.

In 2015, I served as President of the Northern Society of Chartered Accountants. I am the elected ICAEW Council member for the Northern region, and in 2020 I was elected by fellow council members to serve on the ICAEW Board.  In my spare time I also develop and operate a hotel business on the Newcastle/Gateshead Quayside.

My wife Sheila and I have two daughters who attended Teesside High School, from the Nursery department through to the Senior School and Sixth Form. As a family we are very keen skiers, and I also have a passion for Newcastle United. My other interests include flying, current affairs and travel…and this excellent school!
