Another fantastic academic year – Head’s Blog

Monday 07 July 2025 | By Erin McKeown

As another exceptional academic year draws to a close, we have much to celebrate and reflect upon.

Year 11 Prom and Year 13 Leavers’ Ball

These past two weeks have seen two truly memorable milestone events for our older students. Our Year 11 Prom and Year 13 Leavers’ Ball were both held at the beautiful Wynyard Golf Club to mark the end of important chapters in their journey at Teesside High School. The students looked fantastic and I hope they all loved spending time together for the final time before their next steps to Sixth Form, university and beyond.

Senior School Sports Day

The spirit of competition was on full display during our Senior School Sports Day, where we were blessed with glorious sunshine. Congratulations to Woodside for claiming victory after a day of enthusiasm, effort and excellent sportsmanship from all involved. I am delighted to see this year’s Sports Awards winners recognised in this edition of the newsletter.

The last few days

The school came together for an exciting and well-deserved Rewards Trip to Flamingo Land on Wednesday. It was a fantastic day out and a wonderful way to recognise the hard work and positive contributions of our pupils across all year groups.

The past two days have been filled with Celebrations of Achievement, providing opportunities to formally acknowledge the progress and successes of our students, not just academically, but in all areas of school life. It is always a privilege to celebrate their growth and accomplishments with families and staff.

Cinderella and Rockerfella

Finally, a very special mention must go to our Prep School pupils, who treated us to a lively and massively entertaining production of Cinderella and Rockerfella last week. The children performed with great energy and confidence, and it was a joy to see their talents shine on stage. A big thank you to the many staff involved in pulling such a huge production together.

I wish all of our friends and families at THS a restful summer break after a busy academic year.
