Head’s Blog – October Half Term

Friday 15 October 2021 | By Megan Connor

As the half term holiday comes hurtling towards us, it is a useful time to look back and reflect on an extremely productive and rewarding few weeks at Teesside High School.

At the start of September, we welcomed lots of new faces to the THS family and, for the first time in what seems like a very long time, prepared to get back to ‘normal’. Everything which makes our school day so rich and varied seemed to make its welcome return. I know our pupils have enjoyed the highs (and lows!) of competitive sport, this week with our Senior School House Sport Week, as well as mixing again across year groups exploring our Forest School and the range of co-curricular provision we offer. It really has been non-stop!

The calendar looks just as busy after the half term holiday, with sporting fixtures in abundance, musical performances, trips and visits, our annual Fireworks event, individual and family photographs, Children in Need, Speech Day, the THS Christmas Market and more. As we get used to once more having such an active schedule across all facets of the school, it is worth keeping an eye on the school calendar – available on our website – to keep informed and organised.

We take care in planning our parents’ evenings and whole school events an academic year in advance, so you can fill your diary with notices and plans ahead of time. We hope you find this useful, particularly in the relentless run up to Christmas!

A reminder that Big Adventures Holiday Camp is running during the second week of half term, for children aged 3-11. Please get in touch via holidaycamp@teessidehigh.co.uk if you wish to take advantage of a busy programme of fun-filled days, with an exciting Halloween theme.

On a Halloween note, please keep hold of any pumpkins you are carving through the holidays, there will be a competition on our Family Fireworks Evening and a prize for the most creative pumpkin – we would be delighted to see your entries and we look forward to seeing you and your friends and family there for a lovely evening.

I hope your half term is restful and full of the delights this lovely autumn season brings.
