Return to school – Monday 8 March

Thursday 25 February 2021 | By Samantha Hockney

We are delighted to confirm that all children will be welcomed back to Teesside High School from week commencing Monday 8 March, following Monday’s announcement by the Prime Minister.

We have taken time this week to absorb extensive guidance given by the government. It is a requirement of Senior and Sixth Form pupils’ return that they are tested for Covid-19 prior to entering classrooms and before coming into contact with teachers and classmates. Having managed a scaled-back trial run this week with all staff and key worker pupils, and given the length of time we anticipate this procedure will take, we will be operating a phased return for pupils, as below.

All Prep pupils and Years 10-13 will return to school on Monday 8 March.

Years 7-9 will return on Tuesday 9 March.

Despite the very unusual start to 2021, all staff at Teesside High School are committed to ensuring a safe and seamless return for our pupils. They truly are at the heart of everything we do and we have missed their presence enormously.

It is important to note that, whilst Covid-19 infection rates are falling, they remain high within our locality and it is imperative that we all play a part in keeping everyone in our school community – staff, pupils and families – safe. Our intention is to continue to provide a sensible balance between health and safety recommendations and the ethos and day-to-day experiences that parents and pupils value so highly.

We are urging all parents to check their school email correspondence and note the plans for their child’s return.

We cannot wait to see you again!
