A-level results day: Sophie secures Oxford place

Teesside High School student Sophie will study German at Oxford University after achieving A*AB grades in her A-level examinations.

Sophie’s success runs in the family. She is following in her sister’s footsteps from Teesside High to Oxford; Sarah (also pictured) is currently reading Classics at Merton College.

Sophie joined Teesside High School in Year 7 and achieved straight A*-A grades in her GCSE examinations. Outside of the classroom, Sophie mentored younger languages students and travelled to Germany during school holidays to complete a work shadowing opportunity with the Goethe Institute.

Kirsty Mackenzie, Head at Teesside High School, said: “Sophie has demonstrated outstanding hard work, commitment and diligence in her studies. She is an excellent ambassador to those hoping to achieve the greatest academic success at Teesside High.

“Sophie’s achievement is all the more staggering when you consider there are just a small number of places available on her chosen course. We wish her all the very best for an undoubtedly successful future.”
