THS students qualify for prestigious English Schools’ Athletics Championships
Tuesday 30 June 2026 | By Samantha HockneyWe are incredibly proud to announce that three Teesside High School students have qualified for the prestigious English Schools’ Athletics Championships, taking place this summer.
English Schools’ Athletics Championships
The English Schools’ Athletics Championships (ESAA) is the premier national athletics competition for students in England aged 12–18, bringing together the very best young athletes from across the country.
Amelie and Tinashe in Year 9 and Kyle in Year 11 will travel to Birmingham Alexander Stadium to represent the school and their County Teams on the national stage.
This is a fantastic achievement and a testament to their hard work, dedication and talent.
Qualifying standards
Tinashe achieved the qualifying standards in both the 100m and 200m events, winning both races. She has chosen to compete in the 200m, having recorded an impressive qualifying time of 25.9 seconds.
Amelie secured her place in the championships with a superb shot put throw of over 10 metres.
Kyle has also been selected to compete in the 3000m, earning his place among the country’s top young distance runners.
A historic milestone for THS
This marks a historic milestone for Teesside High School. It is the first time in the school’s history that three students have qualified to compete at this level.
We wish Tinashe, Amelie and Kyle the very best of luck as they travel to Birmingham during the first week of the summer holidays. We look forward to hearing all about their experiences and celebrating their achievements upon their return.
Congratulations to all three students on this outstanding accomplishment!
