Life before Teesside High School
I attended Teesside High School from age four up to the age of eighteen. I was the first person to receive a Sport Scholarship at the school. After Sixth Form I attended York St John University and completed a joint honours degree in Sport and Business. I then completed my teacher training in Stockton and completed my PGCE with Leeds Met University. I have taught at two local primary schools where I was Head of Sport, English, MFL and KS1 Lead. Most recently I worked closely with York St John University to mentor their trainee teachers.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Everyday in teaching is different and offers new challenges. I enjoy seeing the children develop and shine. Education allows you to be a lifelong learner.
What do you enjoy most about Teesside High School?
That I can give something back to the school that helped me achieve my dreams. Teesside High has a family atmosphere that encompasses everyone, and you have the time to get to know each individual pupil. The school grounds are a wonderful environment to work in each day and the staff are very supportive.
What is your favourite time of the year?
Spring is my favourite time of year. It brings a renewal of life after a harsh winter. Spring flowers, more daylight hours and hopefully warmer weather allows us to spend time outdoors taking part in sporting activities.
What do others say about you?
I am very family orientated; we are a very close family. I love sport, I competed nationally when I was younger. I am very organised with daily lists to tick off, but I am also kind and caring.
