Teacher

Life before Teesside High School

Before joining Teesside High School, I completed my teacher training along the river at Yarm School where I was also a student. After Yarm, I worked at Tadcaster Grammar School where I delivered PE lessons and led cluster competitions with local primary schools. I am a keen sportsman; I play rugby for Yarm Rugby Club and cricket for Norton Cricket Club (where I have played for over 15 years). I enjoy watching sport at any opportunity.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I enjoy seeing students interacting with each other on the sports pitch and developing friendships while playing and enhancing their skills. On a warm summer’s day, is there a better job in the world?

What do you enjoy most about Teesside High School?

I enjoy the togetherness of the school. Everyone knows everyone and  it really does have that family feel to it. The grounds are exceptional. All of the facilities are on one site, with views of the river and the golf course. It is very picturesque.

What is your favourite time of the year?

My favourite time of year has got to be the summer. Outside, teaching athletics and cricket in the sun and developing the skills of the students in sports that I love.

What do others say about you?

I would like to think they would say a talented sportsman with a real love for his job, and caring about the people around him.
