Prep Sports Day Round Up and More – Head’s Blog

Thursday 19 June 2025 | By Erin McKeown

Our summer term calendar is in full swing, with exciting events such as  Prep School Sports Day and Creative Arts Evening having taken place in recent days.

Welcoming new faces

Although school has felt quieter in recent weeks since our Year 11 and Year 13 students have been on study leave, we have had the amazing opportunity to welcome plenty of new faces through our doors.  It was so nice to welcome Year 6 students who will be joining our  Senior School in September for their Transition Day and for all pupils in Prep School to experience what a day will look like in their new year groups!  In addition to this, our Nursery Stay and Play event was super busy with both current and prospective Nursery pupils. We cannot wait for you all to become part of our school family.

Prep School Sports Day

Prep School pupils have also been extremely busy with Sports Day!  Through a combination of field and track events, all students put in hard work and worked impressively as a team.  Well done to Woodside for placing 1st for EYFS, Pre-Prep and Lower Prep years, and to Cleveland for placing first for Upper Prep years.  I am very much looking forward to our Senior School Sports Day on Monday 30 June.

Prep School Musical

In addition to lots of sporting excitement, Prep pupils have been rehearsing tirelessly for the upcoming Prep Musical Performance of Cinderella and Rockerfella.  I cannot wait to see the talent that will be on display!  All floor seating has sold out, but if you still wish to attend on Tuesday 24 June, please use our usual Ticketsource link to purchase availability on the balcony.

Year 11 Prom and Year 13 Leavers’ Ball

There seems to be more of an excitable buzz as GCSE and A-level examinations start to come to an end.  I am so proud of each individual student for their hard work and resilience throughout the recent weeks and hope you all have a fantastic summer break – it is extremely well deserved.  I look forward to seeing you all very soon at the Year 11 Prom and the Year 13 Leavers’ Ball, both at Wynyard Golf Club.

Penultimate two weeks

Although there are only two weeks left until we break up for the summer, we still have so much to look forward to; from Celebration of Achievement events, theatre trips, reward visits, sporting fixtures and much more, we will not be slowing down.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and I am looking forward to seeing some of you at tonight’s Staff vs Parents Cricket Match!
