Head’s Blog – 2022-23 academic year

Friday 07 July 2023 | By Megan Connor

I cannot believe we have reached the end of the 2022-23 academic year, and what a year it has been! From our Family Fireworks Display to school productions, the Christmas Market to our Spring Masquerade Ball, we have had so many celebrations where the THS spirit has shone through.

The end of this term has seen many exciting school trips for our students. Last week, our talented music students travelled to the French capital for our Paris Music Tour. Students performed at two different locations, visited Disneyland and put their French language skills to the test. Later in the week, Lower Prep pupils travelled to Alnwick for their first residential trip, and Year 9-11 students visited London with the Art Department. Each adventure looked superb; trips like these really help to broaden our students’ horizons and contextualise their learning.

The last few weeks of the summer term is the perfect time to make those extra special school memories. It has been so busy with musical productions, Sports Days and more. We also celebrated two wonderful year groups at our Year 11 Prom and Year 13 Leavers’ Ball. Photographs from the evenings can be seen at the end of this edition and our social media channels.

On Monday, we had a fantastic day marking the end of the academic year at the whole school rewards trip to Flamingo Land. The day was filled with rides, animals and a few screams from staff and students as they braved the attractions!

I was very impressed with our Prep School Musical on Wednesday evening. All pupils performed with confidence and expression which created a lovely atmosphere. Thank you to all staff involved for all of your hard work and time.

It has been great to see you all at our Celebration of Achievement events. The 2022-23 academic year has given us so many notable pupil achievements, and it is fitting that we recognise both incredible attainment and fantastic progress in these presentations.

I would like to say a huge thank you for another wonderful term and I wish you a very fun and relaxing summer break.
