Oxbridge success for high flying Sixth Form students

Tuesday 23 August 2022 | By Megan Connor

Four of our amazing students have secured places at the UK’s most prestigious universities, Oxford and Cambridge.

Stella, Kate, Abbie and Hannah have achieved an incredible combined 7 A*s, 3 As and 2 Bs in a range of A-level subjects, from French and German to Mathematics and Chemistry.

Choosing courses at Oxford University, Stella will read English Language and Literature at Merton College; Kate will read French and Philosophy at St. Edmund Hall and Abbie will study French and Beginners’ Russian at Wadham College.

Aspiring surgeon Hannah will study Medicine at Clare College, University of Cambridge, after an extremely rigorous application procedure.

Abbie and Hannah both held student leadership positions of Head Girl and Deputy Head Girl during their time at THS Sixth Form and credit our approach to all-round education for their
success:

Hannah said: “I’ve been at Teesside High since Year 7 and have loved the range of opportunities which came alongside my academic studies; serving on the School Council, acting as a student ambassador, being a lesson prefect, enjoying a range of co-curricular activities and especially accessing a Sixth Form Pre-Med course which prepared me perfectly for the university application process.

“The support and guidance I’ve received from my teachers and support staff has been second to none. It’s a small environment at THS Sixth Form, and the mix of small class sizes and personalised learning has helped me enormously to reach my goals.”
