Tea-Time Talk, Dr Louise Powell – Monday 10 October

Tuesday 04 October 2022 | By Megan Connor

We are pleased to be able to invite you to our Tea-Time Talk with guest speaker, Dr Louise Powell, THS alumni, on Monday 10 October. She will be working with our Year 10 and Year 11 GCSE English students and will also give a Tea Time-Talk to pupils in Year 6 and above on her experiences of writing and working in the Arts industry. Dr Powell has a wealth of experience in creating, devising and writing for a wide variety of settings and has a PhD in English from Sheffield Hallam University.

Dr Powell is a working-class writer and director from Middlesbrough who creates work for theatre, film, audio and prose. Her first full-length play, Fit for Work (2019), debuted at the Tristan Bates Theatre, Covent Garden, then toured to Durham Assembly Rooms and the Chapel Playhouse. She has written for three short films and her audio drama, The Pitmen Flappers, was broadcast on BBC Radio 4 Extra in June 2022.

The talk will begin at 5.00pm and will be held in the dining room, where refreshments will be provided. Please feel free to arrive from 4.45pm in order to take your seats. This promises to be another interesting evening where students can find out more about how to get into another industry of employment, this time the Creative Arts. We are sure Louise will have a lot of useful information and guidance for them.

As always, the Tea-Time Talks are open to all students and their families, whether they have been identified as AG&T in that subject area or not, so please do feel warmly welcome to attend.

Please use the Google Form circulated to confirm your attendance – We look forward to seeing you there!
