Our U14 netball squad has officially secured a place in the Regional Round of the England Netball National Schools’ Competition after a fantastic County Tournament at Barnard Castle School on Tuesday.

England Netball National Schools’ Competition

These girls are one of only a few teams in Teesside High School’s history to secure this achievement and put themselves forward to compete against some of the best teams in the region.

Against strong opposition, including Barnard Castle, Yarm School, English Martyrs and Carmel, the girls were introduced very quickly to the peaks and troughs of tournament netball on Tuesday – their talent, resilience and teamwork taking them through to a Runners Up position, with Barney taking the win.

Several matches saw the girls take a few goal lead and then be left with the difficult second half task of maintaining this when other teams were growing in determination.

A special mention to Katie, an U13 player, who stepped up brilliantly to make the U14 squad this year, showing maturity and composure beyond her years. Finally, to the team’s Captain Amelie, who recently returned from long term injury and delivered a phenomenal shooting display, achieving a 92% success rate in the match against Yarm and a perfect 100% in the fixture versus Carmel.

With their second-place finish, the team has cemented their right to compete in the Regional Round of the competition which will take place on Saturday 31 January 2026. Confidence is high as the squad now turns its focus to planning what the campaign ahead has in store – in what could become one of Teesside High’s most successful netball seasons.

A note from our Captain and Vice-Captain (Amelie and Tinashe):

“We are so proud of our team. We have worked so hard preparing for this and each and every member of the squad did us proud. We were so impressed with how we managed to put everything we had practised in training in our games. A lot of the teams we played have a lot of experience in qualifying for the Regional Round.

“We can already say we are one of the strongest teams in South Durham and Cleveland. Thank you to our supporters and Grangetown for friendly fixture we had leading up to this important tournament.”
