Breast Cancer Now Coffee Morning – Saturday 23 September

Wednesday 13 September 2023 | By Megan Connor

THS Sixth Form pupils are organising a special Coffee Morning event on Saturday 23 September to raise funds for Breast Cancer Now.

Timed to coincide with the school’s first Open Day of the academic year, the school is delighted to extend a warm invite to parents, governors, alumni and members of the local community to come along and enjoy a hot drink and sweet treat in aid of this wonderful cause.

The school has a long history of hosting a Macmillan Coffee Morning as part of its September Open Day event, but will this month tie its fundraising efforts to Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and a cause close to the hearts of many at the school.

Miss Nicola Stephens, Deputy Head, said: “Very unfortunately we have had three staff at Teesside High directly affected, and many more indirectly affected, by this cruel disease, so it seems extremely fitting that we put our focus and efforts into raising awareness and funds for a charity which works so hard to support families in their time of need.”

The school’s Pastoral Support Officer, Mrs Jodie Connolly, returns to school this term following treatment for breast cancer. Mrs Connolly made the news in January after she donated 15 inches of her hair to the Little Princess Trust, raising an incredible £5,000 in the process.

Mrs Connolly has touched the lives of many pupils and families during her short tenure at Teesside High School and we look forward to welcoming her back very soon.

Join us! Our Coffee Morning event takes place on Saturday 23 September, 10.00am-12.00pm in the Main Hall. Please RSVP using the Google form circulated, or via info@teessidehigh.co.uk
