Life before Teesside High School

I started my career as a nursery school teacher in London. When I had my own children, I started my own childcare business from home near Winchester, which I ran successfully for 13 years. I left childcare to enter the corporate world, which I did for 6 years. I’ve also worked at a beautiful private country estate in Berkshire. My circumstances changed just after Covid-19, and I decided to fulfil my dream of living near the moors and living my Charlotte Bronte life.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I really enjoy meeting parents, and doing my best to give a really positive first impression of Teesside High School.

What do you enjoy most about Teesside High School?

It’s an absolute pleasure to be back in an educational environment, surrounded by the chatter and laughter of children and young people!

What is your favourite time of the year?

I’m very much an autumn/winter fan – probably stemming from my upbringing in Scotland. I love a winter wardrobe (I have an ankle boot addiction), and curling up on the sofa with my dog and a blanket, with a fire in the log burner. I moved to North Yorkshire last year with the promise of dramatic, snowy winters, and I am yet to see a decent dump! It’s always been a dream of mine to go to Norway to experience a proper winter – a bucket list item I hope to tick off soon!

What do others say about you?

My friends and family would describe me as pragmatic, calm and unflappable in a crisis! They’d also say that I was a loving mother and loyal friend – qualities that my own mother and my grandmother had, who were really amazing role models for me. My children would also say I’m terrible at riddles.
