Head’s blog – Summer Term

Friday 03 May 2024 | By Megan Connor

After a long break, it is lovely to see the school corridors buzzing once again as we begin an extremely important final few weeks of the year, particularly for those at the top of the school.

I was delighted to present our Scholars for the 2024-25 academic year with a special pin badge at a Scholarship Breakfast last week. This event celebrated their achievements across Academic, Music and Sport disciplines, including for those joining us from Prep. It was wonderful to recognise these students and great to see them already wearing their pins with pride.

Next week sees our oldest students leaving us for study leave, and then the madness of the examination season is upon them! This is a challenging time for all involved and hopefully early preparation has set our students up to succeed. I know the additional intervention sessions in school over the last few months will have helped provide that important insight into hot topics and examination techniques that are so useful on the day. I wish all of our students the best of luck, and I cannot wait to see your hard work pay off on both Results Days in August.

I would like to remind you of the Parents v Staff Cricket Match on Friday 21 June, 4.30pm. Please do join us if you can; I know the staff team is ready for a victory after their defeat last year! I think it will be a lovely evening of sporting fun, hopefully in finer weather than we have been experiencing of late!

With Sports Days, leavers events and well deserved end of year reward trips on the horizon, I cannot wait to enjoy the final school term with you all.

Finally, I could not close without wishing our Senior public speaking team the very best of luck in the ESU Public Speaking final at Cambridge University on Sunday. We are rooting for you, and proud whatever the outcome.

Have a wonderful bank holiday weekend.
